Tower Bridge and London Bridge are easily mixed up by tourists but one Londoner decided to take action – by commenting on their incorrect Instagram hashtags.
Charles Lawley describes himself on Twitter as follows: ‘I spend a lot of my time telling people their photos of #londonbridge are actually of Tower Bridge.
‘I’ll be honest, I haven’t made many friends.’
While he may not make friends with those he corrects, there are many on social media who see him as both a comic genius and a public servant.
Speaking of how it began, MailOnline reported the 26-year-old saying: ‘It all started when one of my friends visited London and put a picture of Tower Bridge on Instagram with the hashtag #londonbridge.
‘After that I searched #londonbridge again and saw nothing but pictures of Tower Bridge.
‘So I thought I’d start annoying tourists and strangers who’ve made an innocent mistake.’
Mr Lawley said of his commenting: ‘It is mostly tourists but every now and then I will see that the person’s account says they live in London and I think you should know better.
‘I don’t actually find it annoying it’s more just something in me that enjoys correcting people.
‘It could get renamed for all I care, it’s just a perverse kick I get from winding people up.’
This Instagrammer just got burnt:
In his own description for this photo, Lawley wrote: ‘I’ll leave this guy alone, he seems too deep in his thoughts.’
It’s Westminster bridge folks, not even Tower Bridge:
At least this lady admitted her mistake:
Textbook shut down from Mr Lawley:
And a soul mate is found:
Maybe this chap was looking at London Bridge in the distance:
