A new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventure and the frightening Babadook are among the new additions to Amazon Instant Video this February.
Here is a round-up of the best TV shows and films on the service this month:
TELEVISION:
Bosch: Season 1 – 13/02/2015
Amazon’s own brand new drama is an adaptation of Michael Connelly’s bestselling detective novels, and features Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch.
You’ll know Welliver’s face from fine performances in Ben Affleck’s trilogy of movies, Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo, and, if you’re stupid, like me, you may have occasionally mixed him up with JK Simmons.
Vikings: Season 3
The Vikings are coming! The Vikings are coming! Nope, they’ve been here a while already. Season 3 arrives this month.
MOVIES:
Hector and the Search for Happiness – 02/02/2015
If you need a collection of actors – some of the finest actors around, to be fair, including Rosamund Pike, Toni Collette, Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Plummer, Jean Reno and Simon Pegg – telling you in a smug manner what it means to be happy, then this is the film for you.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – 02/02/2015
COWABUNGA! Michelangelo and the other three are back being heroes in their half-shells. Do we really need the other three turtles? Raphael is moody, Leonardo is bossy and Donatello is science-y. Just give them all orange bandanas, please.
The Babadook – 16/02/2015
She could have read her kid The Tiger Who Came To Tea or The Very Hungry Caterpillar, but no…. let’s have a flick through this scary pop-up book.
Sleep well, don’t have nightmares.
Predestination – 20/02/2015
If you found Boyhood boring and prefer kick-ass Ethan Hawke to navel-gazing Ethan Hawke, then you’re destined to watch Predestination, in which he plays a ‘temporal agent’ who travels back in time to take out bad guys before they do bad things. The Terminator meets Minority Report, then.
The Emperor’s New Groove – 27/02/2015
Forget everything you know about Disney movies. You can keep Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and even Aladdin, because The Emperor’s New Groove is arguably the best Disney film ever.
Featuring sterling voice work from David Spade, Patrick Warburton, John Goodman and Eartha Kitt, if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re in for a treat.
